Just thought I'd share a few pictures from a recent family get together where we celebrated Rita's 94th birthday. Since we were inside, it also gave me a chance to play around with some darker and moodier edits.Read More
What a super sweet moment this was from the awesome wedding of Kate & Matt yesterday down in Somerset. I love it when brides do an impromptu speech :)
Can't wait to share more from this beautiful wedding...Read More
This was a first for me, Island hopping in Greece - and I have to admit it, it was much more fun than I initially thought. We hired a 36ft yacht and spent the week sailing around the Ionian with the family. We were blessed with the most amazing weather, which was not especially conducive to sailing but was ideal for lounging. Family holidays are great as it's a chance to grab the film camera and not worry too much about the shot. I love holiday snaps and here are a few from our lovely week away.Read More
This was such a great photoshoot down in Somerset with Kate & Matt. Their wedding will take place on Kate's parents' farm in September and they decided that they wanted their engagement shoot to take place there too, albeit in some more remote spots that we won't get to on the big day. After a quick tour of the farm and listening to their plans, I can tell their wedding is going to be magical. We took a quick drive up to the highest point on the farm for some spectacular views of the Somerset countryside, which made my job a lot easier given the stunning location. Afterwards, we headed back to the farmhouse for a few final shots and a cup of tea (and some cake - thanks to Kate's mum). Vinnie the dog also got in on the act. I love doing engagement shoots and Kate & Matt were a joy to photograph - relaxed, chatty and full of laughs. I can't wait to shoot their wedding in September, but until then, here are a few pictures from their engagement shoot.
Thanks, guys, for making this such a fun shoot and also for the warm welcome and hospitality from your folks.Read More
Jessica and James were married on 01-Apr-2016 at the Avon Gorge Hotel in Clifton. It was a great setting, with wall to wall views of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge (and the river running through the Avon Gorge below). It was a real privilege to be a small part of this wedding and I will forever remember the speeches for being both moving and hilarious in equal measures. It was hard at times to hold the camera steady on account of my giggling.
Congratulations, Jessica & James, on your wedding. Here is the story of their day.Read More
A couple of weeks before Christmas, my family came to stay with Marie and I for a few days. It was nice to be able to show them round our new house - even if the weather was terrible. During a break in the rain, we wrapped up warm and headed out to a local park so that Ellie and Rowan could run around and play on the swings. As we were leaving, I remembered I had loaded a new roll of film into my camera, so grabbed it since the overcast sky provided a beautifully diffused light. (I love shooting on overcast days). It also provided a stark contrast to the vibrant studio session we did the day before and I am totally in love with the look and feel of this film stock.Read More
Earlier this month we received a flying visit from my sister and her family. They are currently living in Dallas, but are back in the UK for Christmas. It's been ages since we saw them last, so was wonderful to catch up and see my gorgeous niece and nephew again. After we had exhausted the possibilities of the Bristol Aquarium and local playparks, we had a great time in the studio with Ellie and Rowan getting these fab shots...
Merry Christmas, guys!Read More
This was a great studio shoot with the adorable Bonnie (18 months) and her big brother Sam. There were piles of fun props thanks to Mum and Dad, who did an awesome job trying to get Bonnie to stay in front of the lens and not run off to play. I loved the retro telephones. (And why are children everywhere obsessed with speaking on phones?)
Simon and Gail wanted a couple of pictures to send with Christmas cards and hopefully they are happy with the soft, creamy tones of these images.Read More
We've been having some beautiful, clear, crisp autumn days recently, so I have jumped at any opportunity to get out and about with the film camera, to try and capture the amazing light and rich golden colours. A couple of weeks ago, we went for a walk in the leaves on Clifton Down and then for afternoon tea with friends to see their poodle and tiny newborn baby and I took some pictures. (Some of my subjects were more willing than others.)Read More
