Clare and Ian are a very lovely and laid-back couple, who like to do things a little bit differently - see the results of their engagement shoot here. Clare is a super creative art graduate, and Ian loves beer (!) so it was perfectly fitting that they should celebrate their marriage with a bright and colourful handcrafted wedding at the Bird in Hand Inn, near Reading.
After an intimate civil ceremony with close family in Richmond, they headed off to Reading to celebrate. They had organised a relaxed garden party for all of their friends, with plenty of Pimm’s and pints and a delicious barbecue and hog-roast.
There were so many lovely details at this wedding. Clare and her bridesmaids had filled the venue with hand-made decorations including knitted bunting and they had baked yummy cakes and treats for the bright table centre-pieces. There were also two wedding cakes – a traditional fruitcake that had been handmade by a friend's mother (who also helped to make the bouquet and posies from a big bucket of freshly cut flowers), and a cheese ‘cake’ - a tower of delicious, locally sourced cheeses. The couple even created their own photo-booth, complete with funny props.
Clare and Ian wanted their day to be a riot of colour, and so there were cheerful splashes everywhere; from the flowers, to the bride's amazing shoes, the bridesmaids' dresses and even the groom's splendid braces. And as the sun shone, guests were treated to live music by the brilliant Ding-Dong-Daddios, a local swing band.
But for me, one of the highlights of the day was discovering a big trampoline in the garden and watching the bride and her bridesmaids leaping around and laughing hysterically. It certainly made for some brilliant and original wedding photos.
Congratulations, Clare and Ian and thank you for letting me photograph your fantastically fun and colourful handcrafted wedding.
