Engagement Shoot at Westonbirt Arboretum // Rebecca & Miles

Engagement Shoot at Westonbirt Arboretum Autumn Colour

It is always a risky business planning an outdoor photo-shoot in the autumn – especially given the unreliable weather here in the West Country. But despite the threatening looking clouds, which had filled the sky in the morning, Rebecca and Miles decided to push ahead with their Engagement Shoot at Westonbirt Arboretum.  I’m so glad they did as we managed to catch Westonbirt at its very best; with the fifteen thousand trees glowing in glorious golden and burnished hues.

For this shoot, Rebecca and Miles braved the chill for a romantic walk through the woods. They were great fun to work with and we got some fantastic shots of them playing amongst the vibrant Japanese Maples. I love how Rebecca had co-ordinated her outfit perfectly too, and the berry hues of her scarf and red Hunter wellies looked amazing against the colours of the leaves.

The session also gave Rebecca and Miles a chance to get to know a bit about me and how I work, and I got to learn more about them; their style, likes and dislikes, favourite angles etc.  I love to use Engagement shoots as part of my process of building up a relationship with my clients so they are much more comfortable working with me on the big day.  To anyone thinking about booking a session, I’d recommend it. It is great getting to know you and helps me provide a much more tailored and personal service on your Wedding Day.

Below are some of my favourite images from the shoot.

Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, is located near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.  The collection of trees and shrubs from all over the world was started by the Victorians and is now owned by the Forestry Commission. The estate can be explored by strolling along miles of pathways, through the stately avenues of the Old Arboretum and the ancient, semi-natural woodland and rich grassland of Silk Wood and the Downs.  It is wonderful all year round, but in autumn the trees burst into colour and make for a spectacular sight (and an excellent backdrop for an Engagement Photo Session!).
