I am thrilled to be sharing the photographs of this fabulous wedding at Goldney Hall on the blog today. Anna and Seb were married at Clifton Hill House in Clifton Village, Bristol and the reception was held in the stunning orangery at Goldney Hall, just around the corner.
Seb got in touch six weeks before their wedding. They had originally planned for a friend to shoot their wedding, but last minute work commitments sadly left them short of a photographer. I’m delighted they found me as this was such a beautiful wedding to shoot. From the minute we all met over a coffee in Clifton and I heard about their plans, I knew this was going to be an incredibly relaxed and fun wedding, full of modern and quirky touches. And on the day, the couple barely stopped beaming and laughing for a second.
Fans of the BBC series Sherlock may recognise Goldney Hall as it’s the gorgeous location where Dr. Watson and Mary held their wedding reception. This was my first time shooting here and I was blown away at how beautiful the building and grounds were. I still can’t believe this exists right in the heart of Clifton Village. It is bright and airy so even on an overcast day, the light inside was beautiful and the big mirrors provided some great depth and layers to the images, especially during the speeches.
Speaking of speeches, another first for me was Seb’s brilliant, impromptu performance of a song he had written for Anna accompanied by just his acoustic guitar. Anna’s reaction and that of all the guests (especially her Father) was wonderful and it was awesome to be able to capture it.
We also took advantage of the handsome grounds to get some great shots for the couple’s session during the afternoon. Sadly, the rain arrived just as I was packing up but this always presents an opportunity to play around with some flash and umbrellas. I got soaked but it was well worth it to give the bride and groom a cool night-time portrait.
